Jane Dayton, Oils & Watercolors(1918-1996)
Gallery
Jane Dayton was known for her oils and her unique approach to watercolor graphics—a combination of ink drawings with an overpainting of watercolors. Jane has been involved in painting since her early teens and made a living off being a professional artist, art teacher and judge.
Her choice of subjects, in addition to portraiture, was mainly nostalgic: old things like barns and trains which are rapidly disappearing from the American scene. She and husband Bob Nash, also a watercolorist, spent time at the Instituto Allende art school in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in the 1960s. During her long career Jane received numerous awards for her contributions to the art community.
